One of the easiest things I've done in recent years that has truly revolutionized my typical day is to sign up for a google account. A google account is free, and comes with awesome email, and incredible calendar feature, online spreadsheets and word processor, and the awesome google reader. To sign up for a google account, go to:
Click on 'create an account now' in the lower right-hand portion of the screen. It will run you through the typical routine of signing up for things on the net.
